Priority Personnel is seeking Temporary Veteran Outreach Specialists to work until Aug 31st.  Employee will travel to locations between San Antonio to Killeen, schedule will be provided weeks in advance and reimbursed for mileage.

Pay rate: $20/hour

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri/8am-5pm 

Job Duties:

  • Develop and implement outreach and recruitment strategies to attract and retain veteran students.
  • Assist veterans with the college application and enrollment process, including reviewing transcripts and determining transfer credits.
  • Serve as a liaison between veterans and other departments, such as financial aid and academic advising, to ensure veterans receive appropriate services and support.
  • Facilitate veteran-specific workshops, seminars, and events, such as resume writing and interview skills, to help veterans transition to college life.
  • Connect veterans with resources and support systems, such as counseling and disability services, to help them succeed academically and personally.
  • Work with faculty and staff to ensure that veteran students’ unique needs and perspectives are incorporated into the academic environment.
  • Maintain accurate records and data related to veteran student enrollment, retention, and graduation.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations for program improvements based on assessment data and feedback from veteran students.
  • Participate in professional development activities and stay current on best practices and policies related to serving veteran students.
  • Collaborate with other institutions and community organizations to expand opportunities and support for veteran students.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, social work, or a related field. A Master’s degree may be preferred in some cases.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with the unique needs and challenges faced by military veterans, including physical and mental health issues, financial concerns, and academic preparation.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
  • Experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation, with a focus on promoting student success and achievement.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data, and use it to inform decision-making and program improvement.
  • Familiarity with student information systems and other technology tools used in higher education, such as Banner and Canvas.
  • Knowledge of counseling and coaching techniques to support student success and achievement.
  • Experience with event planning and coordination, including marketing and outreach efforts to engage and retain veteran students.
